- The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might not get a battery upgrade at all this year.
- Unlike the Galaxy S20 FE that got the S20 Plus’ battery, the new Fan Edition may not borrow its battery from the S21 Plus.
Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE got the same battery as the Galaxy S20 Plus flagship. If you were expecting this trend to continue in 2021 and hoping for the Galaxy S21 FE to get the S21 Plus’ 4,800mAh battery, you might be disappointed.
According to information revealed by folks over at GalaxyClub, the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE might make do with a 4,500mAh battery, same as its predecessor.
A battery with model number EB-BG990ABY matching the phone’s rumored model number SM-G990B was spotted by the publication. It has a rated capacity of 4,370mAh. Samsung will likely market it as a 4,500mAh battery.
Of course, this is not a bad battery size to have. A recent poll conducted on Android Authority shows that most people are currently using phones with up to 4,500mAh batteries.
The Galaxy S20 FE also exhibited stellar battery life with the same 4,500mAh cell. During the course of our review, we managed to get more than a full day’s usage from the device, and we expect the same from the upcoming Fan Edition.
Moreover, if the Galaxy S21 FE borrows features like wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare from its predecessor, which it most likely will, you could have a well-rounded phone when it comes to battery features.
